Summer Truffles

Hey everyone!

Summer is right around the corner and I have been itching to make some cake truffles with summery flavors. I played around all week with some new ideas to take to Swoozies and here is what I came up with.

My favorites in order are:
- Pina Colada
- Key Lime
- Peanut Butter
- Strawberry
- Chocolate
They are all amazingly wonderful and the rumor on the street is that PeaceLoveSugar cake truffles are the only known cure for Swine Flu! :)

Movie Night

It's little miss Rece's 9th birthday and she is having a movie themed party. They rented a movie theatre to have a private screening of Kitt Kittredge - An American Girl while munching on typical movie snacks. Her aunt contacted me about making a cake to match the theme and after brainstorming we decided on a popcorn bucket. This cake was 6 layers of vanilla cake with vanilla whipped icing along with raspberry filling. Doesn't it look scrumptious?
Happy Birthday Rece!!

Boxed Truffles

These truffles are making their way to Orange, Texas for a bake sale to raise money to pay for a child's trip to church camp.

The PeaceLoveSugar love is now being spread across our great state! Which town will welcome the love next? Where will the first batch of PeaceLoveSugar wonderfulness go that is out of our great state?

Oh happy day!

Swoozies - Highland Park

One of my favorite gift stores is Swoozies. The bright colors draw me in every time! This store is worse than Wal Mart for me. I can go in with a list of just a couple of items and I leave with bags upon bags of cute things.
The Highland Park store has agreed to let me put my truffles on display. Along with themed truffles to look at I am delivering tons of free samples. If you are out and about in the Highland Park area swing into Swoozies and try one or fifty!

This Thursday they are kicking off their "Grad Fest" so I put this bucket together to show some options for the graduate! Graduation parties are upon us and what better way to decorate your party table than with something edible and delicious! These make great gifts too and can be personalized by name, high school, college attending etc.

While we are on the subject of bouquets, these buckets would make wonderful Mother's Day presents or teacher appreciation gifts. Each flower could feature the name of the student's in your child's class. Just something to think about...

Enjoy!

The Girls Room

My cake truffles went to a good cause this past weekend.

The Girls Room is a dance studio in Dallas where I had the pleasure attending a private session for a friend's bachelorette party last summer. I got word that they were having a fundraiser/charity event for the Genesis Women's Shelter. I emailed Karyn, the owner of the studio, and asked her if she would like some complimentary cake truffle trays to go along with their other appetizers. She was excited and agreed. While I wasn't able to make it to the event I am sure that it was a success!

Here are some pictures I snapped of the trays.

"Teasers and Pleasers" are common terms at The Girls Room.
Go take a class and find out! It's a TON of fun.

PeaceLoveSugar

Welcome to PeaceLoveSugar!
Let's take a minute to get to know each other.

PeaceLoveSugar started with a lot of free time. My husband is in the US Army and was deployed several months ago. A series of events landed me back in Dallas living back at home. Long days with nothing to do didn't work out for long. Before I knew it the oven started calling my name. My first inspirations came from a book and a woman that I envy. I spent hours upon hours in the kitchen "creating" as my mother so kindly worded it. Really, she was secretly cringing from fresh powder coating from floor to ceiling and countless bags of sprinkles, toppings, cupcake wrappers and other decorative items that were strewn all over our tiny kitchen transformed into my workshop.

Positive feedback from friends and family quickly turned into requests for treats. With a little push from my biggest fans, my husband and parents, I put together prices and made my first attempts to sell my passion of cupcakes, cake truffles and the occasional party cake. I enjoy baking with all of my heart. I am self taught but that doesn't discount my abilities. The best learning is hands on and I spend a large amount of time tinkering with my skills through trial and error. That brings us to the present day.

Today cupcakes are everywhere and have made a comeback in popularity. Cupcake towers are a popular replacement for wedding cakes and make yummy parting gifts when individually wrapped for parties. These individual servings of sugar are ideal because ingredients can be combined in an infinite number of ways to make individualized batches to please every taste pallet. PeaceLoveSugar prides its self in taking your favorite flavors and creating a custom recipe for customers who want a change from chocolate and vanilla. While I enjoy flavor experiments, I get the most joy out of the decorations.

Have cupcakes worn out their welcome on your party table? Cake truffles are a similar option with a completely different look and taste. My truffles start with your choice of cake flavor and icing combined and shaped into a ball (or any shape to match your requests). Next the two-bite sized treats take a dive into melted chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate or vanilla which come in a variety of colors. Want a lollipop look? Cake pops are possible as well. As if that isn't enough, there are topping options galore. My "couture cake truffles" are decorated to fit the occasion. Say for instance you are hosting a graduation party. Cake truffles can be made into graduation hats or they can sport a fondant circle with "2009" on top. Customize your pops for the grad and proudly display their college of choice with a logo on the truffle. You tell me your event and I will bake something to match.

Let me entice you with some pictures.

Warning: You may want to have some M&M's handy as these pictures have been known to cause severe sweet cravings and nagging sweet tooth flair ups. Have your phone or email browser open as the only permanent cure is to place a PeaceLoveSugar order! Proceed with caution...
